A hospital stay can be overwhelming for children and their families. At Banner Children’s, we work hard to give kids as much normalcy as possible. One important part of that is making sure learning and creativity don’t stop while they’re in the hospital.
Our Banner Children’s Hospital School program brings the classroom to the hospital. Our experienced teachers provide on-site classroom or bedside instruction so children can keep up with their studies during their stay.
The hospital school program offers individualized educational support to help children stay on track academically. Whether a child needs daily lessons or occasional check-ins, our teachers work with their home school to follow assignments and meet learning goals.
When kids are medically ready to return to school, we help ensure a smooth transition. Our team communicates with school staff to provide updates and recommendations so students can step back into the classroom with confidence.
Interrupting a child’s education can have lasting effects, including:
The Banner Children’s Hospital School program helps prevent these setbacks. We give kids the tools to focus on what matters most - getting better - while staying connected to their education.
Our program also encourages creativity, curiosity, and social interaction. Activities may include reading, art, music and projects that inspire a love of learning. By nurturing both the mind and spirit, we help children cope better with the challenges of hospitalization.
If your child will be staying in the hospital and you’d like them to participate in the Banner Children’s Hospital School program, talk with your care team or a child life specialist. We’ll help you get started.
