As the former President of Providence (1998 – 2020), he played a pivotal role in establishing the third-largest health system in the United States, growing revenue from $2 billion in 1998 to $25 billion today.
Additionally, Michael served as Providence’s CFO and COO, overseeing ambulatory and hospital operations, finance, strategy, technology, digital innovation, clinical institutes, population health, and people development.
Michael's firm, Proponent Advisors, has made 13 investments in early-stage digital health and sustainability technologies, including Linus Health's AI-driven platform, which offers a comprehensive, proactive approach to optimizing brain health for individuals at risk of Alzheimer's and dementias.
During his 22-year tenure at Providence Health, Michael led Finance and Strategy, architecting a continuous growth strategy that resulted in a $23 billion revenue gain. Under his leadership,
Providence built a health plan serving over 1 million members.
