Integrated Psychosocial Care

Your Banner Health team is dedicated to putting you at the center of your care. Through our integrated approach, our experienced, compassionate health professionals provide personalized treatment plans tailored to your unique needs.

Banner Health’s Integrated Psychosocial Care (IPC) services support patients, families and health care teams by addressing not only the physical aspects of illness, but also the psychological, behavioral and social factors that affect overall health.

To get started, call Banner Behavioral Health at 602-254-4357.

What is integrated psychosocial care?

Illness affects more than your physical health. Research shows that treating emotional and mental health needs alongside medical care can improve outcomes and quality of life.

At Banner Health, IPC is a holistic, collaborative model that supports your physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being. This approach blends high-quality medical care with compassionate support for your emotional needs.

Who benefits from IPC?

Many patients with chronic physical or mental health conditions benefit from psychosocial care. IPC may be helpful for those managing:

  • Cancer and other long-term illnesses
  • Neurological conditions or disabilities
  • Depression, anxiety or mood disorders
  • Emotional distress related to a diagnosis

By addressing the whole person, IPC helps patients build coping skills, manage symptoms and improve their overall well-being.

What to expect during IPC

Your first IPC visit includes a conversation with a counselor about your goals, challenges and treatment preferences. Together, you may explore therapies such as counseling, medication, or strategies to improve sleep, mood and daily functioning.

After your initial meeting, your IPC team will stay connected with you through ongoing visits by phone, virtually or in person to ensure you have the support you need.

Who is on your IPC team?

Your care team includes experts who work together to support your health:

  • Counselor: Works with you to create and adjust your care plan, offers short-term counseling and refers you to additional services if needed.
  • Psychiatric consultant: Reviews your progress, advises your team and may meet with you directly to ensure your treatment aligns with your emotional health goals.
  • Medical team: Oversees your overall care and collaborates closely with your counselor and psychiatric consultant to coordinate treatment.

Benefits of IPC

Integrated psychosocial care can help you strengthen your emotional and social health by:

  • Coping with stress and building resilience
  • Maintaining fulfilling relationships
  • Balancing rest, work and activity
  • Managing personal feelings and daily demands
  • Finding joy and contentment in everyday life
  • Improving self-confidence and emotional well-being
