Pediatric Physical Therapy at Banner Children’s

At Banner Children’s, we provide physical therapy for children and adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our goal is to help your child function as independently as possible—at home, in school and in the community.

What is pediatric physical therapy?

Pediatric physical therapy focuses on helping children who have delays, limitations, or weaknesses with their movement and gross motor skills. Our licensed pediatric physical therapists provide care through:

  • One-on-one therapy sessions
  • Small group therapy
  • Multidisciplinary therapy as part of a care team

When does a child need physical therapy?

A pediatrician may recommend physical therapy if your child has:

  • Developmental delays (such as not walking or sitting at the expected age)
  • Limited range of motion
  • Muscle weakness or low strength
  • Difficulty with balance or coordination
  • Abnormal muscle tone

Physical therapy may also support children recovering from illness, surgery or sports injuries.

How can physical therapy help my child?

Physical therapy helps children build strength, improve movement and gain confidence in their abilities. A physical therapist can:

  • Design safe, personalized exercises to improve mobility
  • Recommend strategies to support your child at school and home
  • Suggest adaptive equipment when needed
  • Work with families to encourage progress outside of therapy sessions

By focusing on your child’s unique needs, pediatric physical therapy supports better long-term growth, independence and quality of life.
