Medical Imaging

Imaging for sports injuries and more at Banner Imaging at Talking Sticks

When you have a sports injury or joint problem, a physical exam isn’t always enough to make a diagnosis. That’s where diagnostic imaging comes in. At Banner Imaging at Talking Stick, located inside Banner Sports Medicine Scottsdale, our radiology experts use advanced technology to help diagnose and treat sports injuries and other musculoskeletal conditions.

Our team includes certified radiologists who are trained not only in sports-related imaging but also in diagnosing a wide range of other medical conditions. While our imaging services support the orthopedic and sports medicine teams on site, we also care for patients with non-sports-related needs.

On-site imaging in a sports medicine setting

You don’t have to travel to a hospital or separate clinic for imaging. We provide on-site diagnostic testing right here at Banner Sports Medicine Scottsdale. This state-of-the-art facility is Arizona’s first comprehensive sports medicine center, offering everything from injury prevention and diagnostics to rehab and surgery under one roof.

Whether you're here for a sports injury or another orthopedic concern, our location combines convenience with advanced equipment and expert care.

Imaging services offered at Banner Imaging at Talking Stick

We offer a full range of imaging services to evaluate musculoskeletal injuries, vascular concerns and other conditions:

MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)

MRIs help doctors examine soft tissues like muscles, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. These scans use magnets and radio waves—not radiation—to create detailed images.

At our location, we offer:

  • 3T MRI, ideal for brain, vascular, joint and small bone imaging
  • 1.5T MRI, commonly used for the abdomen and chest

MRA (magnetic resonance angiogram)

An MRA focuses on blood vessels. It’s less invasive than a traditional angiogram and helps detect issues like blockages, aneurysms and vascular abnormalities.

CT scan (Computed Tomography)

CT scans combine X-ray images into detailed cross-sectional views. These scans are often used to evaluate bones, joints, internal organs and injuries, especially when an MRI is not needed.

Computed Tomography Angiogram (CTA)

TO: A CTA focuses on blood vessels and helps doctors check for:

  • Aneurysms
  • Blood clots
  • Tumors
  • Blocked or narrowed arteries

Digital X-ray

A digital X-ray is often the first step in diagnosing:

  • Broken bones
  • Growth plate injuries
  • Dislocations
  • Degenerative joint conditions

While MRI and CT services are offered through Banner Imaging at Talking Stick, digital X-rays are available within the same facility at Banner Sports Medicine Scottsdale.
