Allergy Conditions & Treatments

Do you treat my specific allergy?

At Banner Health, we understand that no two allergies are exactly alike. Our adult and pediatric allergy, asthma and immunology specialists diagnose and treat a wide range of allergic conditions — from the most common to the most complex.

Common and complex allergy conditions we treat

We care for both children and adults with conditions that range from seasonal allergies to severe immune reactions. Conditions we treat include:

  • Asthma – including allergic asthma triggered by pollen, pets, mold or dust
  • Sinusitis (rhinosinusitis) – inflammation of the sinuses that may be allergy-related
  • Hay fever (allergic rhinitis) – a nasal allergy caused by pollen, dust or pet dander
  • Hives (urticaria) – itchy skin rash triggered by food, medication or environmental irritants
  • Contact dermatitis – skin reaction caused by allergens or irritants like metals, fragrances or plants
  • Eczema (atopic dermatitis) – a chronic skin condition often linked to allergies
  • Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) – immune system overreaction to a common fungus called aspergillus
  • Hypersensitivity pneumonitis – lung inflammation caused by breathing in dust, mold or chemicals
  • Immunodeficiency disorders – conditions where the immune system doesn’t function properly, increasing the risk of infections

Allergy treatment options at Banner Health

After a full evaluation and diagnostic testing, your care team will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan. Treatment options may include:

  • Allergen immunotherapy – also known as allergy shots or sublingual immunotherapy, used to treat environmental allergies and allergic asthma
  • Aspirin challenge and desensitization – for people with aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD) who still need aspirin therapy
  • Immunoglobulin (antibody) replacement therapy – for individuals with immunodeficiency conditions
  • Medication management and desensitization – safe treatment plans for people allergic to important medications
  • Venom immunotherapy – treatment for those with severe allergic reactions to insect stings (bee, wasp, hornet or yellow jacket)
