Additional Responsibilities
Additional activities throughout the program year contribute toward resident development, including the following required and optional activities:
- Research Project
- Background preparation, IRB submission, data collection and analysis
- Presentation at Southwestern States Residency Conference and/or a Banner Health sponsored conference
- Completion of manuscript
- Business Plan
- Proactive risk assessment, cost/benefit analysis, marketing materials
- Business proposal manuscript
- Quality improvement project (QIP)
- Baseline measurements, data collection results
- Co-precepting APPE student rotations and paid pharmacy interns, as applicable
- Serving as the pharmacy representative on a facility or system committee, as assigned
- Drug information
- Journal club
- Teaching certificate program (optional)
- ACPE-accredited CE seminar presentation
Service Commitment
- Twenty total eight hour weekend shifts at Banner Family Pharmacy - Banner University Medical Center Phoenix
- Saturday and/or Sunday shifts are chosen by the resident
- Four one-week on-call phone shifts
- Calls made by patients after hours are first triaged by the Banner Member Experience Center registered nurse and only transferred to the on-call pharmacist line if the matter concerns a specialty patient and cannot wait until the next business day.
